GENEVA – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with International Labor Organization (ILO) Director General Guy Ryder. Ambassador Tai and Director General Ryder previously met virtually on August 13, 2021.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tai shared details on the trade session she chaired during the OECD Ministerial Meeting in Paris last week on “Making Trade Work for All.” Ambassador Tai discussed how the themes of this session are connected to the ILO’s work and how it fits into USTR’s worker-centered trade agenda.
Ambassador Tai also reiterated the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to combatting forced labor and enhancing corporate accountability in the global economy. She noted that addressing forced labor in international supply chains will likely be on the agenda during the G7 Trade Ministers meeting in London next week.
Ambassador Tai and Director General Ryder agreed on the importance of the ILO in advancing the rights of workers around the world, and pledged to continue working together on this important issue.
