WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai and Deputy United States Trade Representative Jayme White today met with Swedish Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs Anna Hallberg.
Ambassador Tai thanked Minister Hallberg for Sweden’s support of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) and provided an update on the TTC’s inaugural meetings which occurred this week in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ambassador Tai highlighted the importance of a continued U.S.-Sweden partnership to advance the work of the TTC. Ambassador Tai and Minister Hallberg discussed how the U.S. and Sweden can work together on shared priorities, including tackling climate change and advancing a worker centric trade policy. They also discussed how the U.S. and Europe can work together to address global overcapacity of steel and aluminum.
Ambassador Tai welcomed Minister Hallberg’s thoughts on addressing shared challenges posed by non-market economies and increasing supply chain resiliency. They agreed to stay in regular communication over the coming days.
