Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s Meeting with Canada’s Minister for Small Business, Export Promotion, and International Trade, Mary Ng

PARIS – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Canada’s Minister for Small Business, Export Promotion, and International Trade, Mary Ng on the sidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).  

Ambassador Tai and Minister Ng discussed the importance of the multilateral trading system, areas of potential cooperation for a successful MC12, and the need for action to combat the challenges posed by non-market economies.  

Ambassador Tai welcomed the continued work with Canada to ensure an outcome that is meaningful in the WTO fisheries subsidies negotiations, and thanked Canada for its support of U.S. efforts to highlight and address the use of forced labor on fishing vessels.  

Ambassador Tai and Minister Ng reiterated their shared commitment to promoting an inclusive trade agenda, based on strong labor and environmental standards.
