Ambassador Tai to Attend G20 Trade Ministers Meeting, Travel to Switzerland

WASHINGTON  – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai will attend the G20 Trade and Investment Ministers Meeting in Sorrento, Italy on October 11-12, 2021. Ambassador Tai will also hold bilateral meetings with international counterparts on the margins of the meeting. Ambassador Tai will discuss the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation in the World Trade Organization (WTO) on issues such as pandemic preparedness and resilience; WTO reform, including increasing transparency of government support and leveling the playing field for U.S. workers; and environmental sustainability.
 
On Wednesday, October 13, Ambassador Tai will travel to Geneva, Switzerland to conduct meetings with WTO Members and representatives from the International Labor Organization. On October 14th, Ambassador Tai will deliver a speech at an event hosted by the Graduate Institute's Geneva Trade Platform ahead of the WTO’s 12th Ministerial Conference about the organization’s important role, why it must adapt to the rapidly changing global economy, and how it can help workers and unlock broad-based economic prosperity. 

Ambassador Tai will return to Washington on Friday, October 15th.
