PARIS – Today U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with Costa Rica Trade Minister Andres Valenciano. They discussed the importance of the multilateral trading system and areas of potential cooperation for a successful MC12.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Valenciano exchanged views on how to strengthen the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR), in particular through the facilitation of trade and capacity building to foster economic integration and alignment and promote recovery from the pandemic, inclusive economic growth and increased formal sector employment in Central America.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Valenciano also reiterated their shared commitment to promoting an inclusive trade agenda, based on strong labor and environmental standards.
