Readout of Ambassador Tai’s Meeting with INTA Chair Bernd Lange

BRUSSELS – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai and Deputy United States Trade Representative Jayme White today met with Bernd Lange, the chair of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee (INTA). They last met in Washington on July 22.
 
Ambassador Tai and Chair Lange discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral trade issues including shared global challenges posed by non-market economies and the upcoming World Trade Organization 12th Ministerial Conference.  They highlighted the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) as a vital platform for driving effective joint action on shared trade priorities. They also discussed the importance of finding a fair outcome to the steel and aluminum dispute and responding to harmful industrial policies, combatting forced labor and promoting worker centric trade policies.
  
Ambassador Tai acknowledged Chair Lange’s ongoing efforts to ensure that the transatlantic trade relationship embraces the shared values of equity, sustainability, and transparency, and she conveyed her desire to stay in regular touch with him and the INTA Committee.
