Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai's Meeting with New Zealand's Minister for Trade and Export Growth Damien O'Connor

BANGKOK – United States Trade Representative Katherine today met with New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Export Growth Damien O’Connor on the margins of the 2022 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade meeting.  Ambassador Tai and Minister O’Connor reaffirmed the importance of the trade and investment relationship between the United States and New Zealand and continued cooperation at APEC. 
 
Ambassador Tai provided updates on the Biden-Harris Administration’s plans to develop and launch an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity that delivers concrete benefits to people in the region and addresses 21st century global challenges.  Ambassador Tai also highlighted her commitment to developing trade policies that incentivize resilient and sustainable economic growth. 
 
Ambassador Tai and Minister O’Connor emphasized the importance of creating resilient supply chains and discussed the World Trade Organization’s 12th Ministerial Conference next month. They agreed to remain in regular communication on these and other issues.
