Assistant United States Trade Representative for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement
Roberto Soberanis is the Assistant United States Trade Representative for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement. Most recently, Roberto served as Senior Advisor to the Department of Labor for the State of New Jersey. As a member of the Commissioner of Labor’s executive leadership team he was responsible for communicating and advancing the Governor’s vision on economic and workforce development across the Garden State.
Prior to joining the State of New Jersey, Roberto was Deputy Director for Intergovernmental Affairs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the US Department of Labor, and in that capacity, he helped manage implementation of DOL’s policies, programs and initiatives, and advised departmental leadership on engagement with elected officials and stakeholders across the country.
Previously, Roberto served as a Legislative Aide to California’s 32nd Congressional District where he was a domestic policy advisor to the Member on a range of legislative issues. Roberto graduated from the University of California Irvine with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Relations and Spanish.
