Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Trade Policy Coordination (Acting)
Laura Buffo is the Acting Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Trade Policy Coordination. She serves as the Chair of the Interagency Trade Policy Staff Committee, oversees the implementation of the Generalized System of Preferences, and serves as the USTR liaison to the Board of Directors of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Ms. Buffo has been with USTR since 2008 and held the previous positions of Director for Environment and Natural Resources and Director for Labor Affairs. Prior to joining USTR, Ms. Buffo spent nine years at the U.S. Department of Labor where she oversaw technical assistance programs to improve international labor standards. Ms. Buffo has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Whitman College and a Master in Public Administration from Syracuse University.
