FRIDAY: Ambassador Tai to Discuss Reform at the World Trade Organization

Ambassador Tai will also participate in a fireside chat with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on the importance of the WTO

WASHINGTON – On Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2:30 PM ET, United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai will deliver a speech on the World Trade Organization (WTO) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Following her speech, Ambassador Tai will participate in a fireside chat alongside WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The conversation will be moderated by Daniel Runde, Senior Vice President; William A. Schreyer Chair in Global Analysis; and Director of the Project on Prosperity and Development at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

In her speech, Ambassador Tai will underscore the importance of reform at the WTO to make it a more effective, responsive, and inclusive forum for solving today’s global challenges. She will also highlight areas of reform that are a priority to the United States, and how the United States is engaging with other WTO Members to advance these priorities.
