Ambassador Tai to Travel to North Carolina

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai will travel to Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina from September 26-27, 2023.

At 10:30 AM, Ambassador Tai will participate in an Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander roundtable alongside Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13). As the co-chair of the White House Initiative and President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI), Ambassador Tai will discuss how the Biden-Harris Administration is working to address the unique challenges facing the community. At 12:30 PM, Ambassador Tai will join North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper for a tour of North Carolina State University’s turkey education unit. This tour is open press, and there will be a press availability following the tour.

At 1:10 PM, Ambassador Tai will participate in a roundtable with North Carolina turkey producers. As the United States’ third largest exporter of turkey, North Carolina will have an opportunity to benefit from the new market access available in India as a result of an agreement finalized earlier this month. At 5:30 PM, Ambassador Tai will visit the University of North Carolina as part of its Diplomacy Initiative and will deliver remarks on the Biden-Harris Administration’s worker-centered trade policy. At 10:00 AM, Ambassador Tai will participate in a roundtable with Latino community members and leaders. In her statement for Hispanic Heritage Month, Ambassador Tai re-affirmed her commitment to meet with Latino community members to ensure their voices and priorities help shape USTR’s work in Washington and abroad.
