Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s Call with UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai spoke today with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, President of the Board of Trade, and Minister for Women and Equalities, Kemi Badenoch.  They discussed the recent meeting between President Biden and Prime Minister Sunak, where the two leaders directed their economic teams to work intensively on our shared economic agenda ahead of the G7 Summit in May 2023. 
 
Ambassador Tai emphasized the United States’ commitment to strengthening the U.S.-UK economic and trade relationship.  The two ministers discussed accelerating the work on the topics started under the U.S.-UK trade dialogues.  They also discussed the Inflation Reduction Act and the recently announced Windsor Framework on Northern Ireland.  Ambassador Tai underscored that the United States welcomes the Framework and pledged to remain in close contact with Secretary Badenoch in the weeks and months ahead.
