USTR CELEBRATES WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
WASHINGTON – The Office of the United States Trade Representative today released a statement celebrating Women’s History Month.
“Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the remarkable achievements women have made in American history, including at USTR, and recommit to expanding equal opportunity here at home and around the world. From the earliest days of the American Revolution, to the suffragists at Seneca Falls, the leaders who powered the civil rights movement, our first female Vice President, and countless other unnamed heroes, women have driven the nation to live up to its ideals.
“For far too long, women were blocked from fully participating in our society. Despite great strides towards gender equality, that shameful legacy still manifests itself today with women bearing a far greater burden during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The entire Biden-Harris Administration is committed to building back better by advancing equity across the board. That includes developing trade policies that help women fully participate in the global economy, promoting equitable economic growth here at home by refocusing on the American worker, and recruiting and retaining women throughout the agency as part of a comprehensive effort to finally shatter the glass ceiling.”
