Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s virtual meeting with European Commission Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager

WASHINGTON –  United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met virtually with European Commission Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager.
 
Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice-President Vestager highlighted the importance of the transatlantic trade and investment relationship. Ambassador Tai outlined her strong desire to develop a more positive and productive trade relationship with the European Union. They committed to strengthening U.S.-EU cooperation on shared objectives related to large non-market economies, such as China. Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice President Vestager also agreed to work together on key priorities, including the digital economy and trade policy support for climate change objectives. Both leaders agreed to regular engagement in the future.
