On 27 September 2002, Australia and Brazil requested consultations with the European Communities concerning the export subsidies provided by the EC in the framework of its Common Organisation of the Market for the sugar sector. The requests concerned Council Regulation (EC) No.
USTR's Office of Southeast Asia and Pacific Affairs seeks to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations with the countries of Southeast Asia, as well as Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
The office also works to advance relations regionally through initiatives aimed at regional economic integration, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) and our Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
