WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today participated in a virtual meeting of G7 trade ministers, hosted by the Italian presidency.
The ministers discussed priorities for a successful Thirteenth Ministerial Conference (MC13) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and received an update on the preparations from WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Ambassador Tai remarked that MC13 provides an important opportunity for the WTO to show a meaningful evolution in its responsiveness to the issues and challenges of today. The ministers expressed their continued commitment to reforming the WTO and building a more viable and durable multilateral trading system.
