BRUSSELS – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met today with European Union Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders.
Commissioner Reynders and Ambassador Tai reflected on their participation the previous day at the Antitrust, Regulation and the Next World Order conference and discussed the importance of antitrust and competition concerns in discussions of data and digital policies, including in trade.
They also discussed the challenges and opportunities presented by the dissemination of artificial intelligence.
Ambassador Tai and Commissioner Reynders agreed that transatlantic cooperation in the digital and data realms is essential and that trade discussions need to ensure that governments have the ability to take action in defense of the public interest.
