Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s Meeting with Intergovernmental Policy Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met virtually with the Intergovernmental Policy Advisory Committee (IGPAC). More information on the IGPAC can be found here.
 
During the meeting, Ambassador Tai provided an overview of the Biden-Harris Administration’s approach to trade policy and identified opportunities for collaboration with IGPAC, including strengthening worker protections and expanding market opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses.
 
Ambassador Tai shared details about her trips to Michigan, Wisconsin, Washington, and Illinois to meet with workers, farmers, labor representatives, and business owners about how USTR can create more durable and effective trade policy. The group discussed the important role IGPAC and state and local governments play in helping USTR’s work and Ambassador Tai’s vision of a worker-centered trade policy.
 
Ambassador Tai committed to keeping IGPAC members updated on USTR’s work moving forward and to continue working together on issues of shared concern.
