WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met virtually with Singapore Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Ambassador Tai and Minister Gan discussed the importance of the trade and investment relationship between the United States and Singapore. The United States and Singapore signed the U.S. - Singapore Free Trade Agreement in 2003.
Ambassador Tai emphasized the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to a worker-centric trade policy and restoring American engagement and leadership internationally, including in Southeast Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific region. Both Ambassador Tai and Minister Gan agreed to work together on shared areas of interest, including digital trade, climate change, WTO reform, and the pandemic recovery.
