WASHINGTON –Today Ambassador Katherine Tai met virtually with executives from the U.S.-APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Business Coalition as follow up from the broader APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) meeting on June 5. The convening, which was hosted by Chair of the U.S.-APEC Business Council and President of the National Center for APEC, Monica Whaley, centered on the importance of U.S. engagement in the Asia-Pacific region, including various approaches that help support key U.S. interests and values.”
Ambassador Tai reaffirmed her strong support for APEC, and commitment to working collaboratively with the forum to address shared priorities. She also highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s determination to expand equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and APEC’s important role in the global effort to end the pandemic. The Ambassador reiterated the Administration’s determination to increase resilient and sustainable supply chains while advancing trade policies that ensure the dignity of work and shared prosperity.
