WASHINGTON –United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with German Federal Minister for Economics and Energy, Peter Altmaier. Ambassador Tai and Minister Altmaier celebrated the framework reached between the United States and the European Union (EU) to address the large civil aircraft dispute, which strengthens our important relationships with key trading partners and ensures that our workers and companies can compete fairly.
Ambassador Tai emphasized the need for continued and enhanced collaboration with Germany and the rest of the EU to address shared concerns with China’s non-market practices, including forced labor and excess capacity. Ambassador Tai and Minister Altmaier also discussed the launch of the U.S. - EU Trade and Technology Council and Germany’s upcoming presidency of the G7. The two leaders agreed to maintain regular communication on these, and other critical issues, in the future.
