Readout of Ambassador Tai's Virtual Meeting with Costa Rica Trade Minister Andres Valenciano

WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai met virtually with Costa Rica Trade Minister Andres Valenciano. The two discussed the importance of bilateral trade between the United States and Costa Rica as well as the importance of strengthening the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR). Ambassador Tai stressed the importance of facilitating trade and capacity building in Central America to help boost formal employment opportunities and economic growth. Ambassador Tai and Minister Valenciano also discussed sustainable growth, climate change, pandemic recovery efforts, and the future of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Ambassador Tai and Minister Valenciano agreed to maintain open lines of communication.
