Inaugural Meeting of the Trade and Environment Committee of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity Trade Track

WASHINGTON – Today, the partner countries of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity held the inaugural meeting of the Trade and Environment Committee (Committee).   
 
The Committee, chaired by Assistant United States Trade Representative for Environment and Natural Resources Kelly Milton, exchanged views and priorities regarding cooperative activities on trade and environment issues, including to address climate change.  The Committee also discussed the importance of exchanging information and seeking to increase regional collaboration on matters of mutual interest to advance trade and environment priorities.  Finally, the Committee also agreed to hold a workshop on “Supporting Climate Solutions Through Trade” later this year.
 
The Committee was established at the Americas Partnership Trade Ministerial in Quito, Ecuador on August 1, 2024.  It enables regional collaboration on actions that contribute to environmental sustainability and inclusive and resilient trade.
