KUALA LUMPUR – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met today with Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Ambassador Tai congratulated Prime Minister Anwar on his recent election. Ambassador Tai and Prime Minister Anwar discussed the importance of the U.S.-Malaysia trade and investment relationship. They also reviewed the progress made on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework following the initial launch in May 2022. Ambassador Tai provided an update on the negotiations and noted that the framework will advance resilience, sustainability, inclusiveness, and competitiveness throughout the region.
Ambassador Tai also shared U.S. economic priorities for the U.S. APEC host year.
Ambassador Tai and Prime Minister Anwar pledged to continue working together and further strengthening ties between the United States and Malaysia in the months and years ahead.
