March 14, 2022

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Poland’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology Piotr Nowak.  Marek Magierowski, Poland’s Ambassador to the United States, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tai expressed solidarity with Poland as a longtime friend of the United States and our commitment to the security of Poland and all of our NATO allies in light of Russia’s premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified invasion of Ukraine. They also discussed the importance of taking joint action to respond to Russia’s invasion.

Ambassador Tai discussed the Biden-Harris Administration’s worker-centered trade policy and her to desire to work with partners and allies like Poland on promoting that policy.  She expressed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation on shared priorities, such as tackling challenges posed by non-market policies and practices, as well as improving both market access and the regulatory environment for U.S. companies in Poland.

Ambassador Tai and Minister Nowak agreed on the importance of a strong transatlantic and bilateral trade and investment relationship and the potential for collaboration on a range of issues through the United States-EU Trade and Technology Council. They committed to maintaining an open dialogue moving forward.
