BERLIN – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with leadership of the Transatlantic Business Initiative (TBI), hosted by the Federation of German Industries. During the discussion, Ambassador Tai highlighted the important progress made under the transatlantic relationship over the past year, including the launch of the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council, and solicited views of the TBI leadership on areas for future close cooperation between the United States and Germany.
The TBI group shared their perspectives on today’s global trade challenges, including the effects of policies practiced by non-market economies. Ambassador Tai and the group agreed that transatlantic trade policy should reflect and promote our common values, including those that support workers and the environment. Ambassador Tai noted the importance of an organization like the TBI to promote these values, and expressed her interest in staying in touch over the coming months.
