Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s Meeting with Ivory Coast Minister of Trade and Industry Souleymane Diarrassouba

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met virtually with Ivory Coast Minister of Trade and Industry Souleymane Diarrassouba.
 
Ambassador Tai outlined her vision for an inclusive, worker-centered trade policy that increases economic security and prosperity for workers in both countries and emphasized the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to deepening the U.S. trade relationship with Africa. 
 
They expressed a shared commitment to strengthen the U.S. – Ivory Coast economic relationship and discussed the Administration’s continued support for the ongoing negotiations and implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). Ambassador Tai and Minister Diarrasouba agreed to stay in open communication ahead of the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference.
