United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk met today with Dr. Mahmoud Eisa, Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade today in Geneva, Switzerland, on the margins of the 8th WTO Ministerial Conference. During the meeting, Ambassador Kirk discussed the United States’ goal, announced by President Obama earlier this year, of working with Egypt and other partners to advance a trade and investment partnership with the Middle East and North Africa. Such a partnership with Egypt and other countries in the region could boost trade, investment, job creation, economic growth and development, regional integration, and international competitiveness.
Ambassador Kirk and Minister Eisa also discussed trade issues of bilateral importance, and current issues in the WTO as well.
