Assistant USTR for Environment and Natural Resources Kelly Milton will hold a meeting on trade and environment with government officials from Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, along with the U.S. Department of State. During the meeting, she will lead a discussion on the role of trade in supporting more resource efficient and circular economies. She will also participate in a student roundtable event on climate change as it relates to water security and deforestation. In the afternoon, Deputy Assistant USTR for Environment and Natural Resources Allison Smith will participate in a discussion on opportunities and challenges in critical minerals extraction, processing, and recycling. Ambassador Tai will be in Johannesburg, South Africa for the 20th United States-sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum).

Ambassador Tai will meet with South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ebrahim Patel. This meeting is closed press.

Ambassador Tai will participate in AGOA Forum events with stakeholders, trade ministers, and leaders from AGOA-eligible countries. This will include opening remarks during the Organized Labor and Civil Society Forum.

Ambassador Tai will meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ebrahim Patel. This meeting is closed press.

Ambassador Tai will provide remarks at the opening ceremony of the AGOA Forum. This event will be open to pre-credentialed media until 10:20 AM local time.
