Readout of Ambassador Tai’s Meeting with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga and Minister for Industry Agus

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.  They discussed the importance of the bilateral trade relationship, emphasizing the role of the U.S.-Indonesia Trade & Investment Framework Agreement as a platform for addressing trade and investment issues.  They also discussed shared areas of interest, including agricultural trade, trade in ICT products, intellectual property rights and good regulatory practices.

Ambassador Tai welcomed Indonesia’s decision to join all four pillars of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), and both sides discussed next steps for work on the Trade Pillar.  Ambassador Tai also commended Indonesia on its leadership as G20 Chair.
