WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today held a productive virtual meeting with Margarete Schramböck, Austria’s Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs. During the conversation, Ambassador Tai and Minister Schramböck highlighted the important accomplishments over the past year, including the launch of the Trade and Technology Council, which will help expand transatlantic cooperation in new and emerging technologies while providing a platform to address shared challenges from non-market economies.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Schramböck also discussed the need to reform the World Trade Organization and ensure it remains a relevant force for good in the lives of regular people. Ambassador Tai detailed the Biden-Harris Administration’s approach to developing worker-centric trade policies that reflect our common transatlantic values. Ambassador Tai and Minister Schramböck agreed to stay in regular communication in the days ahead.
