WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met virtually with Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Luigi di Maio. Ambassador Tai conveyed the Biden-Harris Administration’s interest in developing a more positive and productive trade relationship with both Italy and the EU that addresses a range of trade issues.
Ambassador Tai expressed her interest in stronger cooperation with Italy on the challenges posed by non-market economies such as China, forced labor, digital issues, reforming the World Trade Organization and global overcapacity in the steel sector. The two agreed to regular communication on these and other critical issues.
