DETROIT – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Export Growth, Damien O’Connor, on the margins of the APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting.
Ambassador Tai and Minister O’Connor reaffirmed the importance of the U.S.-New Zealand trade and investment relationship and continued cooperation at APEC.
They welcomed the ongoing negotiations on the Trade Pillar of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). Ambassador Tai reaffirmed the United States’ goal to pursue a high-standard framework that advances resilience, sustainability, inclusiveness, economic growth, fairness, and competitiveness. She added that she looked forward to additional cooperation with New Zealand during the IPEF Ministerial on Saturday, May 27 and in the months ahead.
Ambassador Tai and Minister O’Connor agreed to remain in regular communication on these and other issues.
