Media Registration for Transportation & Trade Ministerial Meetings in Detroit Opens
 
Media registration for the upcoming ministerial meetings, to be hosted in Detroit, Michigan (United States), is now open.

The United States Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will host his counterparts from the 21 APEC member economies on 15-17 May for the 11th APEC Transportation Ministers’ Meeting and related events.

It will be followed by the 2023 APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting hosted and chaired by the United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Katherine Tai, on 25-26 May. 

Preceding this, the APEC Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) will be held on 24-25 May, as well as a cluster of trade and sectoral official meetings from 14-23 May. 

Registration procedures:

News coverage of opening remarks and limited opportunities of the 11th APEC Transportation Ministers’ Meeting, the 2023 APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting and SOM2 and related meetings is welcome. 

Media interested in covering Ministerial open-press events should submit credential requests here by Tuesday, 9 May 2023. Approved media registrants will receive additional details via email. If your accreditation is approved you will receive a confirmation email.

Access to the ministerial press filing center, and specified events will only be available to accredited media representatives. Due to spatial limitations, coverage of specific ministerial remarks will be pooled; accreditation permits access to the filing center, but does not guarantee inclusion within the pool.

Some key media events and opportunities: 

•    Tuesday, 16 May: Transportation Ministers’ Meeting’s opening remarks by the Chair
•    Thursday, 25 May: Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting opening remarks by the Chair
•    Friday, 26 May: APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting news conference

All events open to press coverage will be livestreamed at State.gov; host video (high-resolution downloadable clips) and still photographs will be made available upon conclusion of the event.

Media Center:

A media center will be established for accredited media at the Westin Book Cadillac. Limited unreserved workspace and complimentary Wi-Fi internet will be provided. The tentative hours of operation will be: 

Tuesday, 16 May: 7:00am – 5:00pm 

Thursday, 25 May: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Friday, 26 May: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
