WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Oleksiy Lyubchenko, to discuss opportunities to strengthen the economic and trade relationship between the United States and Ukraine. Ambassador Tai acknowledged Ukraine’s ambitious economic reform agenda and highlighted the importance of transparency, predictability and accountability in Ukraine. She stated her belief that these efforts will build trust in the Ukrainian government and create an environment that allows commerce to flourish.
Ambassador Tai and Deputy Prime Minister Lyubchenko also discussed their commitment to increase investment between the two countries as well as regulatory issues, digital trade issues, intellectual property issues and shared concerns about excess capacity in steel and aluminum industries from non-market economies. Ambassador Tai and First Deputy Prime Minister Lyubchenko agreed to maintain sustained dialogue in the future.
