Statement by Ambassador Froman on Release of the President’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2015

March 04, 2014

Washington, D.C. - Today the Office of Management and Budget released President Obama’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2015, which gives a blueprint for enhancing economic growth, expanding opportunity for all Americans, and increasing fiscal responsibility.  U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman made the following statement regarding the appropriations within President Obama’s budget proposal for USTR.

“Building on the bipartisan compromise achieved last year, the President’s budget makes the critical investments that will provide the necessary resources to create new opportunities for American businesses, farmers, and entrepreneurs through trade,” said Ambassador Froman.  “Under the President's budget, USTR will be able to properly pursue American jobs by opening markets to Made-in-America products and bolstering our ability to level the playing field for our workers by standing up for our rights in the global trading system.  These investments are part of a broader strategy that includes investment in new manufacturing technologies, infrastructure, research and innovation, and education.  The Obama Administration's trade policy is part of a broader strategy, reflected in the President's budget, for creating jobs and sustainable growth."
