Statement by U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman on the AGOA Extension and Enhancement Act of 2015

April 16, 2015

“AGOA is the cornerstone of our trade relationship with Sub-Saharan Africa. Seamless, long-term renewal of the program, and important updates, including to the rules of origin and eligibility review processes, create the right environment for investment, development, and economic growth.”

“We have made important strides together over the last 15 years of AGOA.  Today's legislation gives our vital partnership with Sub-Saharan Africa renewed lift and focus, allowing us to continue our work together to raise standards and improve lives through trade.  We look forward to working closely with Congress to get this AGOA legislation passed.”
