Statements regarding progress on Russia’s accession to the WTO

November 10, 2011

Federal agencies and stakeholders from around the world are voicing their support of the decision today by the Working Party on the Accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to adopt the terms and conditions for Russia’s accession to the WTO.  President Obama congratulated President Medvedev and Russia’s WTO accession team on their years of work toward this goal.  United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Ron Kirk, also voiced his support of this announcement, which marks a win for both the Russian people and the American people.  Russia’s WTO membership will promote increased trade and lower tariffs between our two countries, while supporting significant job growth for Russian and American workers.  Russia is now on track to join the WTO.  Below is a sampling of what agencies and stakeholders are saying so far – check back for periodic updates.
