United States and Costa Rica Sign Agreement on Pocketing Fabric

December 05, 2006

Costa Rica on pocketing," said Ambassador Susan C. Schwab.  "This has been a high priority for our industry and the industries in the region."

With this exchange of letters, the United States has concluded agreements on pocketing fabric with all five Central American signatories to the CAFTA-DR and the Dominican Republic.  The next step is for all of the CAFTA-DR Parties to complete their domestic legislative procedures required to implement the amendments that have been agreed upon.

The United States and the other CAFTA-DR signatories agreed to negotiate amendments on pocketing fabric when concerns were raised during Congressional consideration of the CAFTA-DR implementing bill.
