Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai’s Meeting with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali

GEORGETOWN – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali on Friday, August 2, 2024.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tai and President Ali emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Guyana economic and trade relationship, and Ambassador Tai underscored the United States’ continued commitment to be Guyana’s partner of choice.

Ambassador Tai highlighted the United States’ inclusive and worker-centered trade policy that helps grow our middle classes together and strengthens our workers’ ability to compete and succeed. Additionally, Ambassador Tai emphasized the importance of resilient and diverse supply chains.

Ambassador Tai and President Ali discussed working together on these and other matters to strengthen U.S.-Guyana economic ties and expand opportunities for people throughout the region.
