Washington, D.C. – On Friday, July 30 at 10:00 a.m., United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk will speak to Pennsylvania manufacturing workers about how the Obama Administration has stepped up enforcement of U.S. trade agreements in support of American workers’ rights to compete on a level playing field in the global market. The address will take place at Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI)’s plant in Washington, Pennsylvania. Ambassador Kirk is returning to the Pittsburgh area for this enforcement update, after pledging last year in a speech to steelworkers at the Mon Valley Steel Works - Edgar Thomson plant in Braddock to make trade enforcement a top priority.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kirk will describe how the Obama Administration’s trade enforcement actions are helping to sustain jobs here in America by making sure that U.S. trading partners adhere to their agreements, respect our trading rights, and play by the rules. Kirk will also discuss how the Obama Administration’s approach to trade, combining tough trade enforcement and smart trade expansion, contributes to President Obama’s National Export Initiative and his overall economic recovery strategy.
