Paris, France - United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk arrived in Paris this morning for the 2009 Ministerial Council Meeting at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). While participating in the Ministerial Council Meeting, Ambassador Kirk is meeting bilaterally and plurilaterally with a number of key trade ministers, including those from Australia, Brazil, Japan, Russia, South Africa, and the EU. He expects to discuss bilateral trade issues with those nations, as well as efforts to reach a successful conclusion in the Doha round of world trade talks.
On Thursday, June 25, Ambassador Kirk will participate in the 11:00 a.m. OECD session, "Keeping Markets Open for Trade and Investment." Ambassador Kirk will hold a press conference immediately following this session (at approximately 1:15 p.m./1315 pm local Paris time) in the Media Center (Room CC1) at OECD headquarters.
