Dakar, Senegal - Ambassador Ron Kirk has arrived in Dakar, Senegal. This is his first visit to Senegal as the United States Trade Representative.
While in Dakar, Ambassador Kirk will meet with Senegalese officials and a group of AGOA exporters to discuss a range of trade issues, including improving Senegal's performance under AGOA and the DOHA round of trade talks.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, Ambassador Kirk will visit the Port of Dakar, which serves as a hub for West African trade. This visit will give Ambassador Kirk an opportunity to see the port facilities and address some of the infrastructure challenges that impact Senegal and other African countries' trade with the United States.
