Statement of Ambassador Ron Kirk on Director-General Pascal Lamy's Reappointment

April 30, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk welcomed the re-appointment of Pascal Lamy to a second four-year term as Director-General of the World Trade Organization:

"At this critical time for the world's economy and the global trading system, Director-General Lamy's reappointment will provide welcome and much-needed continuity at the WTO. The United States is committed to growing opportunities around the world in a rules-based trading system that works for Americans here at home and produces new and tangible benefits in which all WTO Members can share. We look forward to working with Director-General Lamy and with our partner nations to achieve those vital goals."
