Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai's Meeting with Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong

BANGKOK – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong on the margins of the 2022 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade meeting.  Ambassador Tai thanked Minister Gan for Singapore’s warm hospitality during her trip in April and they highlighted their shared commitment to strengthening the bilateral economic relationship. 

Ambassador Tai and Minister Gan also discussed the Biden-Harris Administration’s development and upcoming launch of an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity that responds to 21st century global challenges and creates durable, resilient economic growth for families, workers and businesses in the United States and the Indo-Pacific region. 

Finally, Ambassador Tai and Minister Gan looked ahead to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 12th Ministerial Conference and working constructively to reform the WTO. They agreed to stay in regular communication in the days ahead on these and other issues.
