Fulfilling yet another campaign promise, President Trump announced yesterday that a new free trade agreement has been reached between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Replacing NAFTA, this deal – the USMCA - is our most critical trade agreement. Canada and Mexico are our second and third biggest trading partners, far outpacing China when combined.
From the outset, President Trump made clear that our trade deficit and market issues with both countries around dairy, wine, grain, fruits and vegetables, respectively, were unacceptable. The USMCA addresses these and other NAFTA issues that needed to be fixed thus, I believe it improves the playing field for Americans.”
