Republic of Türkiye Trade & Investment Summary

U.S. goods and services trade with the Republic of Türkiye totaled an estimated $42.0 billion in 2022. Exports were $19.4 billion; imports were $22.5 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with the Republic of Türkiye was $3.1 billion in 2022.

U.S. goods exports to the Republic of Türkiye in 2022 were $15.2 billion, up 27.4 percent ($3.3 billion) from 2021 and up 22 percent from 2012. U.S. goods imports from the Republic of Türkiye totaled $18.8 billion in 2022, up 18.6 percent ($3.0 billion) from 2021, and up 199 percent from 2012.  The U.S. goods trade deficit with the Republic of Türkiye was $3.6 billion in 2022, a 7.8 percent decrease ($308 million) over 2021.

U.S. exports of services to the Republic of Türkiye were an estimated $4.3 billion in 2022, 26.4 percent ($888 million) more than 2021, and 17 percent greater than 2012 levels. U.S. imports of services from the Republic of Türkiye were an estimated $3.7 billion in 2022, 74.7 percent ($1.6 billion) more than 2021, and 71 percent greater than 2012 levels. Leading services exports from the U.S. to the Republic of Türkiye were in the transportation, travel, and financial services sectors. The United States had a services trade surplus of an estimated $536 million with the Republic of Türkiye in 2022, down 56.7 percent from 2021.

U.S. foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Republic of Türkiye (stock) was $5.8 billion in 2022, a 7.4 percent decrease from 2021. U.S. direct investment in the Republic of Türkiye is led by manufacturing, wholesale trade, and finance and insurance.

The Republic of Türkiye's FDI in the United States (stock) was $2.6 billion in 2022, up 4.0 percent from 2021.
