Readout of Meeting between U.S. Trade Representative Froman and Moldova Prime Minster Leancă

Washington, D.C. –U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman and Moldova’s Prime Minister, Iurie Leancă, opened the meeting of the United States-Moldova Joint Commercial Commission.  They encouraged the members of the Commission to find ways to enhance the trade and economic relationship between Moldova and the United States.  Ambassador Froman confirmed U.S. support for Moldova’s efforts to integrate with Europe, highlighting the potential for economic prosperity.  The Ambassador praised the Commission as a valuable venue in which the two countries could work together to bolster bilateral economic engagement.  Following the Ambassador’s and Prime Minister’s departure, the members of the Commission exchanged ideas on concrete steps to expand trade and improve the investment climate in Moldova.
