United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk Concludes Trip To Egypt

Cairo, Egypt - Today United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk concluded his three-day visit to Egypt. Ambassador Kirk met with Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Mohamed Rachid, Egyptian Minister of Investment Mahmoud Mohieddin, and Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Amin Abaza. During these meetings, Ambassador Kirk discussed topics relating to bilateral trade, agriculture, labor, and the environment.

"I have benefited enormously from my meetings here in Egypt, and take away a deeper understanding of the potential for closer trade and investment relations between our countries," said Ambassador Kirk. "I am especially grateful to Minister Rachid for his hospitality and good counsel. My team and I look forward to continuing to deepen our relationship with Egypt through our Strategic Partnership for Trade-Related and Investment Issues in the months and years ahead."

While in Cairo, Ambassador Kirk also met with local business leaders and spoke at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt about how to enhance and diversify the U.S.-Egyptian trade and investment relationship.

Ambassador Kirk is now heading to Brussels, Belgium. While in Brussels, Ambassador Kirk will meet with European Union officials, speak at the joint EU AmCham/Business Europe/Belgian AmCham lunch and participate in the German Marshall Fund Brussels Forum.
