Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Trade Policy and Economics
Bill Shpiece is the Acting Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Trade Policy and Economics. Mr. Shpiece joined USTR in 1995 as Deputy Assistant USTR for the Office of Economic Affairs and was Acting Assistant USTR in 2010 and 2011. Mr. Shpiece has led economic analysis on enforcement investigations and trade negotiations, working with economists inside and outside of government. Prior to joining USTR, he provided economic analysis on unfair trade and safeguard investigations at the U.S. International Trade Commission and as an economic consultant to the Asia Pacific Office of the United Nations Development Programme.
Mr. Shpiece also serves as USTR’s Chief Economist.
